Getting started

Make a whole group watch a space, a page, or a page and all its child pages. The app keeps it in step as people join and leave the group.

What it does

Confluence Cloud only lets you add watchers one person at a time. With Group Watch you write one rule instead: this group watches that. Everyone in the group gets a watch, the same as if they had pressed Watch themselves, so Confluence emails them when those pages change.

Set up your first rule

  1. Install the app from the Atlassian Marketplace. You need to be a Confluence admin.
  2. Open Confluence settings and find Group Watch in the left menu.
  3. Click Add a rule.
  4. Under Groups, pick one or more groups.
  5. Under What they watch, pick a whole space, a page and all its child pages, or one page only. See Rule types.
  6. Leave Required off unless everyone must follow these pages. See Opt-outs.
  7. Read the preview: how many people will watch how many pages, and about how many emails a week that means.
  8. Save. The first sync starts straight away. After that, the app syncs every hour (or once a day, if you change it in Settings).

Let space admins manage their own spaces

In Settings, turn on Let space admins manage rules for their own spaces. Space admins then find Group Watch in their space settings and can make rules for that space only. It's off by default.

Settings at a glance

Before you uninstall: uninstalling deletes this app's records but leaves the watches in place. Run Settings → Remove all watches this app created first if you want them gone. Read more.
